A Photo of Mark Zambon

Mark Zambon, selected to represent individuals with disabilities, served for eleven years and deployed to combat zones six times in the US Marine Corps. A roadside bomb detonated under his feet during his sixth combat tour, resulting in bilateral, above-knee amputations. After his recovery he returned to active duty where he taught bomb disposal wearing prosthetic legs and combat boots.

Zambon studied psychology in his undergrad studies at Sacramento State, graduating with honors. There he worked as a research assistant in a neuroscience research cohort which studied the impact that PTSD produces on the frontal brain region and impulsivity, decision making, and judgment. He is currently a second-year law school student working to create a team of attorneys that provide pro-bono criminal legal defense for veterans with PTSD facing the criminal legal system.
